KPTM took a look at some of Thanksgiving's most popular grocery items to see how the prices differ between 2020 and 2021.
The grocery items that were looked into were turkey, potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, whipped topping, butter, canned vegetables, and canned pumpkin.
Hy-Vee 2020:

- Cool Whip $0.68

Hy-Vee 2021:

Hy-Vee's potatoes, sweet potatoes, and stuffing were all found to be cheaper in 2021.
However, the buy one get one for the ham and turkey went up $1.00 per pound, and the turkey by itself went up $0.20 per pound.
Baker's 2020:

Baker's butter and potatoes were cheaper compared to 2020, and, surprisingly, the Honeysuckle White Frozen Turkey was $1.10 cheaper per pound than 2020.
A lot of the store's prices stayed the same or a penny more like the pumpkin and canned veggies.

Family Fare has Butterball Turkey and potatoes cheaper than 2020.
However, Libby's pumpkin went up $0.30 and Del Monte canned veggies went up $0.36.
We could not find a price for butter in the 2020 ad.
Overall, KPTM can report that potatoes seem to be cheaper in 2021, and depending on where you shop turkey can even be a little cheaper.
In a world full of rising prices, it's nice to know our wallets won't be gobbled up by this year's holiday.
