Five Central Florida restaurants received emergency orders to shut down in the week of Nov. 14-Nov. 20, according to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Orange County

Ferrara Pizza & Pasta at 3020 Lamberton Blvd. Suite 101 in Orlando shut down on Nov. 16.

Inspectors found 15 violations, one of which was a high priority. They found live roaches by the slicer, under the three-bay sink and and behind the prep table among other places. Other violations include food-contact surfaces soiled with food debris and a mold-like substance or slime, also found on the ice machine.

Inspectors revisited the restaurant twice on Nov. 17, allowing it to reopen.

Brevard County

Pita Paradise at 225 W. Cocoa Beach Causeway in Cocoa Beach was shut down on Nov. 18.

Inspectors found 21 violations including seven deemed high priority. Those included live roaches in a dry rice container, under the trash can, in the lid of the cooler, in the bar, by the register, by the drink station, behind the cookline cooler and on the floor under the reach-in freezer. Other high-priority violations included raw food stored with ready-to-eat food in a freezer, raw shell eggs over tzatziki sauce in the walk-in cooler, chicken, hummus, eggplant, feta and cut tomatoes at improper temperatures, and “food not being in a wholesome, sound condition.”

Inspectors revisited the restaurant on Nov. 24, allowing it to reopen.

Pane e Vino at 1800 W. Hibiscus Blvd. Suite 122 in Melbourne was shut down on Nov. 15.

Inspectors found 22 violations including five deemed high priority. Those included flying insects in the salad prep area and in dry storage, raw clams stored in the same container as ready-to-eat mussels, rodent activity including droppings on top of the dish machine, under the reach-in cooler, behind the salad prep area and behind the flour bins in the bakery.

Inspectors revisited the establishment, which met standards and was allowed to reopen on Nov. 16.

Volusia County

Byte a Modern Bistro at 145 N. Woodland Blvd. in DeLand was shut down on Nov. 9.

Inspectors found 19 violations including five deemed high priority. Those included rodent droppings found in the storage-area floor, under the mop sink and on the bar counter. Inspectors also found raw chicken, cheese sauce and French onion soup kept at improper temperatures.

Inspectors returned twice on Nov. 10, and allowed the restaurant to reopen, although it remained with some basic and intermediate violations that still require a follow-up inspection.

Stavros Pizza at 262 S. Beach St. in Daytona Beach was shut down on Nov. 15.

They found 21 violations including five listed as high-priority. Those include flying insects in the kitchen, food prep and food storage areas and live roaches under the prep table, and rodent droppings. The inspection also showed cheese and pizza sauce not stored at proper temperatures and tracking powder pesticides used indoors.

Inspectors revisited and allowed it to reopen on Nov. 16.
