A feathered freeloader is heading back home.
The roadrunner that accidentally hitched a ride to Maine returned to Las Vegas on Tuesday, according to Avian Haven.
A volunteer kept the roadrunner overnight Monday and took it to Logan Airport in Boston Tuesday morning for a direct flight to Las Vegas.
The bird, nicknamed Roadie, touched down in the valley around 11:30 a.m. local time and returned to his old neighborhood a couple of hours later.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife helped coordinate the arrival.
Roadie had snuck aboard a van that traveled from Las Vegas to Westbrook, Maine, last month. Avian Haven, a bird rehabilitation facility in Maine, took care of the roadrunner and said it appeared to be in good shape considering the four-day trip.
