Is Diane Leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL? — Carolyn Hennesy Speaks Out!

Tags:

Rest easy, GENERAL HOSPITAL fans! Carolyn Hennesy and her beloved snarky alter ego, Diane, are not leaving Port Charles. At least, not if the actress has anything to say about it!

In recent weeks, rumors have been swirling that several cast members would be exiting GH for not complying with the soap’s vaccine mandate, which went into effect on Nov. 1. The mandate requires that any employees (cast or crew) who work in the on-set area where actors tape scenes without masks on are fully vaccinated. Those rumors proved to be true when both Ingo Rademacher (ex-Jax) and Steve Burton (ex-Jason) parted ways with the soap for not complying. But Hennesy wants her fans to know that, despite her name being bandied about, she is most definitely not one of those opposed to the coronavirus vaccine.

Taking to Twitter, Hennesy did a bit of crowdsourcing to get to the bottom of the rumors regarding her status with the soap. “Hey, my fabulous Twitter-verse,” she wrote to her followers. “Any idea where this nonsense started about me leaving GH regarding the vaxx? Just curious.”

Hennesy’s query received loads of responses from her faithful fans. One follower posted a screenshot from a website stating that Hennesy would be joining Burton and Rademacher, as well as over a dozen crew members, on the unemployment line for failing to get vaccinated — and the actress quickly set that rumor straight. “Your facts are incorrect,” she replied. “Diane is not going anywhere.”

Another poster confessed that when Hennesy’s name was listed among those failing to comply with the vaccination mandate, “we should have known better” than to believe the hype. “Hilarious,” Diane’s portrayer wrote in response, before typing out a lengthier message aimed at those keyboard warriors who like to cause trouble.

“I’m always fascinated by folks who truly have nothing better to do than stir up [stuff],” she wrote, “while the rest of us are just trying to pay the bills. Sad, tiny, little lives for those folks. But the rest of us… we’re tired but great!”

Before signing off, Hennesy took a moment to share her thoughts about losing Burton as a co-star. “I also want to say this: I love Steve Burton,” she wrote. “Politics absolutely aside from anything (because it’s not about that at the moment, it’s about loss), he’s a kind, smart, funny, caring human who always made me feel terrific as an actor and friend. I will miss him something fierce.”

As previously reported, Burton made his final GH appearance on Nov. 19 when Jason was presumed dead as a result of the tunnels collapsing at the Cassadine compound, and Rademacher’s last episode aired on Nov. 22, when Jax told Carly he was flying back to Australia to deal with some business that required his attention.
