Here’s another reason to stay glued to your screens: Rue Bennett will be back on your screens quite soon. The first official teaser Euphoria Season 2 has been released, giving fans a sneak peek at what's in store.

“When you’re younger, everything feels so permanent,” Rue, played by Zendaya, says in the trailer. “But as you get older, you begin to realize nothing is and everyone you love could drift away.”

Zendaya won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of a recovering drug addict in season 1 of Euphoria, making her the youngest person to do so.

Euphoria Season 2: What to Expect

Euphoria Season 2 will pick up after its two special episodes, one focusing on Zendaya's Rue and the other on Hunter Schafer's Jules, which were produced with a limited cast and locations owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The two characters deserted each other in the last moments of season 1, and the special episodes that followed gave us a glimpse into how they were dealing with the consequences. A brief button scene in the new trailer shows Rue high in front of her sister, implying that she is still dealing with addiction.

Season 2 of Euphoria was originally touted as being "brutal," and based on the new teaser, it appears that the program may very well deliver on that promise, with multiple scenes of violence. The pandemic has pushed HBO's critically praised series' second season back longer than anyone could have anticipated, but fans can rest certain that Euphoria will return early next year.

Euphoria premiered on HBO in the summer of 2019 and rapidly became popular with viewers, particularly younger ones, due to its brutally honest and boundary-pushing portrayal of sex, drugs, relationships, and other perils of adolescence.

Rue befriended a new transgender girl at school named Jules in Season 1 of Euphoria as they both struggled to find their place in the world. Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Storm Reid, Sydney Sweeney, and Colman Domingo play the show's supporting characters.

Watch Zendaya's Killer Performance

In a trailer for Euphoria Season 2, we get our first look at Zendaya reprising her role as Rue. The teaser begins with Rue joyously singing and dancing around her room to the tune of Frank Sinatra's Call Me Irresponsible, until the trailer (and song) radically changes tone, showing the myriad escapades the teens get up to in the show.

Euphoria Season 2 will premiere on HBO on Jan. 9, according to the trailer. Watch the new trailer below:
