Dan Hooker appears to be done as a UFC lightweight. He recently teased that he was preparing to cut down to featherweight.

Dan Hooker recently attempted a test weight cut to get down to 145. He posted on his Instagram that he was making the UFC featherweight limit of 146. “45 look alive.”

The test cut wasn't announced on his social media until after it was completed. He did speak to The Mac Life a few weeks ago and hinted at doing a test weight cut.

“I’m doing a little something, something at the moment,” Hooker said. “You’ve got to make your next move your best move. Let’s just say I’m working with the UFC and the fight dietician very closely and I’m doing a test, a little test run. And we’ll see.”

Dan Hooker has fought at featherweight in the past. His start in the UFC came in the featherweight division where he fought some big names including Yair Rodriguez.

The move to featherweight comes after Dan Hooker's had a rough time at lightweight in the past few fights. His past losses include Islam Makhachev, Michael Chandler, and Dustin Poirier. His UFC wins since 2020 include Paul Felder and Nasrat Haqparast.

It appeared like Dan Hooker would be done with featherweight as he always joked that he had no idea how he made weight in the past. The weight cut will still be a big one but it looks like he has things under control.

There are plenty of fun fights for Hooker in the UFC's featherweight division. It will be interesting to see who he makes his return against.
