It was true on Game of Thrones, and it’s true in real life – winter is coming, and it’s high time to bust out your warmest attire. Starting in December, the season’s cozy puffer coats, bulky scarves, and shearling boots will all have their time to shine. Don’t forget a hat either! If you’re in need of chapeau inspiration, look no further than Bella Hadid, who just emerged in New York City yesterday wearing winter’s snuggliest style. It’s like a teddy bear for your head.
Hadid’s whole outfit revolved around her statement hat, which appears to be a faux fur style. She allowed it to shine on its own by pairing it with a black, pinstripe blazer and baggy trousers. Her pink tee and leopard-print boots offered a pop of colour.
But back to the hat (which made my colleague, Liana Satenstein, think of the huge topper Jamiroquai wore in his “Virtual Insanity” music video). Hadid’s clearly onto something with the furry accessory, as it’s very on-trend this season: Shaggy bucket hats have been having a major moment with stars like Rihanna and Hailey Bieber, and on the runways at Gucci, Acne Studios and Jacquemus. Young milliners like Benny Andallo and Emma Brewin have also been specialising in furry styles, too.
Her hat may be trending, but it’s also a worthwhile investment: Worn with a sleek outfit like Hadid did, a cheeky, fuzzy topper infuses a simple outfit with a dash of fun. And the best part about it is it also keeps you extremely warm. It’s a win-win. Suddenly, a simple beanie or headband never seemed so boring!
