Karim Benzema has been found guilty in the Mathieu Valbuena case.

Benzema has been on trial in France for blackmail over the sex video scandal that saw him unofficially banned from the French team over a number of years.

The Real Madrid striker was accused of blackmailing teammate Valbuena using a sex video he had obtained, and that meant he was left out of Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup, as well all the games in between.

Benzema has been on trial in France, and the The Court of Versailles have decided that the conversation that Benzema had with Valbuena, when he tried to convince him to come into contact with the blackmailers, constituted of a ‘deliberate’ attempt to ensure his teammate would pay to prevent the release of the video.

As a result, Benzema has been found guilty of “conspiring to blackmail’.

Though, he won’t spend any time behind bars, receiving a suspended sentence of one year and a €75,000 fine.
