I have often heard people say, “Love is a strange thing” I guess they say that because people have a weird way of expressing their love. I still can’t figure out why my mom tore my behind up for misbehaving and then said it was done because she loved me, Lol. It was however, that kind of love that helped to mold me into the person that I am today. I will say however, that if a man love his wife he shouldn’t ever think about hitting her!
We will never be able to fully understand love until the end of this world. Most people operate in one of two basic modes. Either we love what we do or we tolerate it for the time being. People who love fishing, spend a great deal of time thinking about it, preparing for the next trip, studying the climate, and whatever else they can do to make the next fishing experience perfect. Those who love a particular sport will do about anything to attend a live event as opposed to watching it on television. I attended a Carolina game once when the New Orleans Saints played the Panthers in Charlotte. The sun was out and everybody seemed to have been enjoying the game. After the first half however, the clouds rolled in and dumped a ton of rain on us. My wife and I got up and began to leave the stands and everybody looked at us like we were aliens. What they were gesturing to us was this, if you love this sport and this team you will ride the storm out. Those fans loved what they love.
When you truly love something nothing gets in your way when it comes to expressing how you feel.
Christians say that they, “Love the lord with all their heart” If this is true, why does it appears like you constantly need help expressing to him how you feel. Jesus said to the woman at the well, “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him” John 4:23. I wonder what hour Jesus was talking about. Earlier in the conversation, there was a distinction between where to worship. The woman said, “Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship” John 4:20. It was clear that two different place and two different styles of worship was on display. Jesus did not debate with the woman he simply said that, “…the hour cometh and now is…” In other words, stop defending where and how you used to worship because a new hour has come.
We are in a new hour, a new dispensation for Christians has arrived. If we want to be a major force in this new hour, we must do some things differently. The woman could defend where she worshipped but was unable to keep a husband. She, according to Jesus had five husbands and the one she was with now was not hers. In other words, woman if you had loved what you said you loved, your first husband, may have still been around. The woman to this particular time never learned to love what she should have loved, her husband.
People of God, if we truly love the Lord, nothing should get in the way of us expressing that love. If the church closes we love him, if someone we love died after we pray for them, we still love the Lord.
If you really love the Lord, then show him. Stop making excuses and be about your father’s business. The hour is now to love what you love, Jesus the Christ!
