Prep report: Spartans kick off season with win

Superior scored four times in the first period of their season opener, blanking Menomonie 7-0 at the Superior Ice Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021.

Andrew Rude scored a pair, while 10 different Spartans had at least one point.

Trevor Soderlund made eight saves in the Superior net for a shutout.

Autumn Cooper scored first for the Spartans, but the defending state champion Sabers took it from there to win

Goals from Tenley Stewart and Frankie Halverson lifted Cloquet-Esko-Carlton (2-2) to a win over Section 7A rival Moose Lake Area (3-1) on Tuesday at Northwoods Credit Union Arena in Cloquet.

The Rebels cut the deficit to one goal nearly six minutes into the third period with a power play marker by Gracie Hartl.

Winning goaltender Araya Kiminski stopped 13 of 14 shots faced. MLA's Mallory Hartl finished with 22 saves on 24 shots.
