BRUNSWICK, Maine – Four Bowdoin College football players have been recognized in All-New England Small College Athletic Conference Awards on Tuesday.
First-year tailback
Andre Eden (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the way for the Polar Bears, becoming the first Bowdoin player to earn NESCAC Co-Rookie of the Year honors and the first Bowdoin running back to be named First Team All-Conference. Tight End Bo Millet (Marblehead, Mass.), offensive lineman
Brandon Krupp (Brentwood, Tenn.) and defensive lineman
Drew Ortiz (Westfield, N.J.) were all named Second Team All-NESCAC.
The four players honored in conference postseason awards are the most for the program since the 2009 season.
Eden had a phenomenal rookie campaign, leading the NESCAC with 978 yards (108.7 yards/game), 139 yards more than any other runner in the conference this season. He finished with the third-most yards in a single season in program history, behind only Jim Soule (1,140 in 1976) and Greg Bohannon (1,092 in 1987). Additionally, his eight rushing touchdowns are sixth-most in a season in team history.
Brandon Krupp earned his first postseason honor after helping Bowdoin to one of the league's top rushing attacks (136.3 yards/game) and, despite throwing the ball 252 times this season, the Polar Bear offensive line permitted just 13 sacks, the second-least in the conference.
Bo Millett was named All-NESCAC for the second time in his career, after ending the year with 26 catches, the second most on the team, for 243 yards. His 77 career receptions rank ninth all-time in school history, and his 932 yards stand just outside the top-ten in the Bowdoin record books.
Drew Ortiz rounds out the Bowdoin honorees after an outstanding year on the Polar Bear defensive line. A playmaker, Ortiz led the NESCAC with 12.5 tackles for loss and stood fifth in sacks at 4.5. He ended fourth on the team with 49 stops on the season.
