Miami improves to 5-0 with 99-47 win (MU Athletics)
OXFORD, Ohio— Dae Dae Grant scored 16 points to pace six RedHawks in double figures and Miami led start-to-finish for the fourth consecutive game in a 99-47 victory over Defiance Tuesday. Mekhi Lairy added 13 points and matched his career high with eight assists, while Precious Ayah and Kamari Williams each chipped in 13 points. Dalonte Brown and Isaiah Coleman-Lands scored 10 apiece as Miami improved to 5-0 for the first time since the 1995-96 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miami took a double-digit lead for the first time at 16-6 on a Mekhi Lairy layup with 12:50 remaining in the opening half.
- Kamari Williams threw down a pair of dunks in the first half to spark Miami to a 41-17 lead.
- The largest lead of the first half came on a Lairy exclamation point just before intermission, as the 5'8" guard stole a pass at the top of the key and went coast-to-coast for a two-handed slam with 23 seconds left to put MU up 45-20 at the break.
- Curtis Harrison IV drove the lane for a highlight-reel dunk with 11:21 to play as Miami took a 40-point lead for the first time (71-31).
- Jackson Kenyon's layup in the final minute gave the Red and White its biggest lead at 55 points (97-42).
- Miami hit 56.3% of its field goal attempts for the game while holding Defiance to 28.6%.
NOTES
- Precious Ayah had at least 10 points for the fourth time in five games and is shooting 85.7% from the floor this season (24-28 FG).
- Miami finished with a single-digit number of turnovers for the third time this year (5 TOs) and had 20 points off Yellow Jacket turnovers.
- MU had 44 points in the paint to Defiance's 12 and held a 17-0 advantage in fast break points.
- Miami had six double-figure scorers in the same game for the first time since November 19, 2004 vs. Purdue.
- All 13 RedHawks that played scored.
- Miami outrebounded Defiance 50-25 and had more offensive boards (15) than the visitors had defensive rebounds (14).
- The contest was a regular-season game for the RedHawks, but an exhibition for the Yellow Jackets.
- The 52-point margin of victory is the fifth-largest in school history.
