Nintendo has now also joined with Sony and Microsoft in condemning the sexual misconduct and overall deplorable workplace situation at Activision Blizzard. This comes from a new report by Fanbyte that says Nintendo president Doug Bowser sent out a company-wide email wherein he called the allegations against Activision Blizzard "distressing and disturbing."
Below are some excerpts from an email that Bowser sent to Nintendo employees on Friday, November 19. This email was sent out to "all levels" at Nintendo of America, including to internal development studios like Retro Studios and Next-Level Games.
"Along with all of you, I’ve been following the latest developments with Activision Blizzard and the ongoing reports of sexual harassment and toxicity at the company. I find these accounts distressing and disturbing. They run counter to my values as well as Nintendo’s beliefs, values and policies."
The email also states that Nintendo was "in contact with Activision, have taken action, and are assessing others." What these actions are that have been taken were not divulged. We do know that Nintendo has been working with the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) for at least the past week. Nintendo and the ESA are working together to "strengthen stances on harassment and abuse in the workplace."
"Every company in the industry must create an environment where everyone is respected and treated as equals, and where all understand the consequences of not doing so."
