Inevitably, something will be missing from your Thanksgiving Day meal. Maybe it's the dessert or dressing, or maybe the knife you have to cut the turkey isn't, well, cutting it. Heaven forbid, you dropped the turkey.

There's no need to fret. There's a grocery or drug store near you that is open to fulfill those forgotten items.

What grocery/supermarkets are open on Thanksgiving?

  • All Kroger stores open at normal times and close at 3 p.m. 
  • Sprouts, 143 Wendelwood Drive in Murfreesboro, will be open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Eagleville Grocery Store, 1005 S. Main St., is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
  • Smyrna Food Lion, 11459 Old Nashville Highway, is open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
  • Dollar General: Varies, but shortened hours.

The location at 106 W. Northfield Blvd. in Murfreesboro is open 24 hours daily, but closed from 1:30-2 a.m. daily for a break.

Pharmacies at all other locations are closed Thanksgiving Day.

Pharmacy and store hours vary at Rutherford County CVS locations. Minute Clinic locations inside CVS stores are closed.

  • 607 S.E. Broad St., Murfreesboro: Store hours at are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The pharmacy is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • 4058 Franklin Road, Murfreesboro: Store hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Pharmacy is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • 2398 New Salem Highway, Murfreesboro: Store hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pharmacy is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • 1331 Memorial Blvd., Murfreesboro: Store hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pharmacy is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • 5202 Murfreesboro Road, La Vergne: Store hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The pharmacy is closed.

Black Friday for big box stores

Although some of the big box retailers are closed Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday officially kicks off the holiday shopping season. So here's what to know:

  • Target reopens at 8 a.m. 
  • Walmart reopens at 5 a.m.
  • Costco reopens at 9 a.m.
  • Sam's Club reopens at 8 a.m. for plus members and 10 a.m. for regular membership holders.
