CheeseCaked was founded by Shawn Brown after a drunk-driver tragically took the life of her ten-week-old son, Jakori. After undergoing massive facial reconstructive surgery, she eventually moved to Atlanta, where her recovery process and remaining three sons encouraged her to finally fulfill her lifelong dream of owning her own bakery.

“Shawn was determined to overcome life’s most difficult obstacles and spread joy through the sweetest of treats,” according to the announcement. “On top of running a bakery full-time, she speaks at Mothers Against Drunk Driving events, sharing her story and reclaiming a piece of the young women she lost on that tragic day.”

CheeseCaked offers a variety of treats including paninis, milkshakes, and individually-sized cheesecakes in flavors such as French toast and bacon, strawberry shortcake, cannoli, and even margarita. A menu favorite known as “My Little Pumpkin” includes a signature cheesecake infused with nutmeg, cinnamon, and pumpkin, resembling the flavors of the seasonal favorite pumpkin pie, with a portion of the proceeds from sales going to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, in honor of Shawn’s late son.

“Opening in Historic Underground is important because it has been a staple in Atlanta’s Entertainment and nightlife for many decades,” Brown said. “Being able to operate in such a revered location is an honor. I’m excited for Cheesecaked to become part of the new Underground culture.”

The hours of operation for CheeseCaked at Underground Atlanta are Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from noon to 10 p.m.

“Our goal with Underground Atlanta is to create a true-to-Atlanta destination with a great mix of unique shopping and dining to bring energy back to Downtown Atlanta,” said Shaneel Lalani, CEO of Lalani Ventures. “CheeseCaked not only offers one of the best desserts in the city but also has an inspiring story and mission that draws customers from around the region. As we continue to reinvigorate the property, we’re thrilled to welcome CheeseCaked as one of our first eateries concepts.”

CheeseCaked is the latest tenant to join the growing roster of businesses at Underground Atlanta, including Yelle Beauty, Future, and a rotating collection of 70 artists and entrepreneurs opening storefronts, studios and galleries along Lower Alabama Street.
