On Monday, an Oklahoma City mother was arrested after leaving her 4-year-old daughter in a store parking lot.
Officers responded to the store near Northwest 10th Street and North May Avenue because a little girl was found with no parent or guardian.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they couldn’t find a parent either. Officers contacted the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, who got a hold of the mother.
The mother told the officers that both her 4-year-old and 1-year-old child were asleep in the backseat when she parked there.
“She went inside the store briefly to use the bathroom, came out, did not check to see that the 4-year-old was missing and then simply wandered off for over an hour to go visit with a friend, only to be told that she needed to come back and police had her daughter."
Neither child was hurt. The mother was arrested for child neglect.
