Paul writes in Romans 8 that “… if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” That should resonate with all of us, because, indeed, no one knows what the future holds.
What will the church look like in five years, let alone 50? What will the shape of the average Christian community be? How will our institutional structures change? What will the Holy Spirit breathe into life as our culture continues to shift and transform?
One thing is certain: God is still on the move, and we’re still invited to follow God’s lead into the future—even if we can’t see it quite yet.
In this issue of Story magazine, we introduce you to some ministry pioneers who are hoping for what they do not see—and in the process are beginning to catch glimpses of what God has in store.
Meet some of the ever-expanding number of leaders who are embracing multivocational ministry paths, both inside and outside the church—and read how multivocationality is opening up new opportunities and ways of imagining Christian leadership. Don’t miss the feature on our Seeds Project fellows, some of the most innovative and cutting-edge leaders in the country. Finally, get inside the next phase of our Listen! God is Calling campaign and how Luther Seminary is tackling student debt and championing bold, innovative strategies to raise up leaders for what’s coming next.
I hope you’ll be every bit as energized by these stories as I am!
In Christ,
Robin J. Steinke
