The ROG Phone 5S Series Finally Comes To The States

2021 saw some insanely powerful gaming phones launched, and ASUS’ ROG Phone 5, ROG Phone 5 Pro, and ROG Phone 5 Ultimate were among them. Recently, the company released some slightly more powerful versions of these phones called the ROG Phone 5S series. These phones are now available in the States

How is the ROG Phone 5S series different?

The ROG Phone 5S is the successor to the ROG Phone 5, and the ROG Phone 5S Pro is the successor to the ROG Phone 5 Pro. The main difference between The ROG Phone S series and the previous series has to do with the processor. 

The new phones will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888+ SoC. This processor is a slight improvement over the Snapdragon 888. The ROG Phone 5 and 5 Pro were extremely powerful, to begin with, and now with the new silicon, we can expect some additional improvements to the gaming performance.

Another difference has to do with the display. When it comes to gaming, reaction time is everything. This is why having a display with a quick touch response is key. The ROG Phone 5S and 5S Pro will have displays with a 360 Hz touch response. Simply put, when you tap the screen, only 24 milliseconds will go by before the phone registers it.

Other than that, the specs will be the same

Both the ROG Phone 5S and the 5s Pro variant will have the same. 6.78 in AMOLED display at FHD+ resolution. These displays will have an incredible 144 Hertz refresh rate.

The ROG Phone 5S will have up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. The ROG Phone 5S Pro will have a massive 18GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Just like the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate.

Both phones share the triple camera setup. They will have a 64-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 5-megapixel macro camera. Upfront, there will be a 24-megapixel selfie camera.

As for the battery, they both sport an incredible 6,000mAh battery with support for 65-watt wired charging. This is much bigger than most phones we’ve seen this year.

On the back of the ROG Phone 5S, you will get the RGB ROG logo. The Pro variant, on the other hand, will get the ROG Vision Display. This is a small screen that can display pretty much anything.

If you want to pick up one of these phones, they are definitely going to cost you a bit. The ROG Phone 5S will sell for $1,099, and if you want to pick up the Pro variant, it will run you $1,299.
