11/15/2021 @ 1914. A man was walking on the sidewalk when he was punched in the face without provocation by the suspect. The victim fell to the ground and the suspect got on top of the victim and continued punching him. The suspect then pulled a sharp metal object from his pocket and stabbed the victim several times in the face and neck area. The suspect was arrested on 11/21/2021. #05079

11/16/2021 @ 0925. A man removed several food and drink items from a display area and left the store without payment. When confronted outside the store by store security, a struggle ensued and security was able to retake possession of the stolen items. #05086

11/19/2021 @ 1336. A man sat down on a couch inside the store and fell asleep. LA County Fire attempted to wake the suspect up and he became combative. The suspect threw a glass bottle full of liquid at the victim but the victim was able to step aside and avoid being hit. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies. #80046

Any fairly competent police agency would be ashamed to submit this information since it shows they have no control over their obligations. Unfocused and disorganized.
Reviewing this blotter makes me wonder why this city experiences such uneven law enforcement. About a year ago my apartment was burglarized. I was handed a “report” but there was never an investigation. No signed statement was collected from me, nobody took notes at the scene, no fingerprint lifted off opened new surveillance camera boxes, and no questioning of the suspect that I identified. To make matters worse, this person has stolen my identity, stalked, harassed, burglarized, assaulted, and slandered me. I have submitted at least six more complaints and no investigation. I appreciate Larry that you have brought back the crime blotter that for so long was missing from the news source that your predecessor use to do that is very important to know weekly crime statistics that the city council really doesn’t want to speak upon so much as of late or only recently brought in the discussion! Any reasonably competent police entity would be mortified to report this information as it clearly illustrate they have little competence in and control over their responsibilities. A great lack of scope and discipline.

Thanks WeHoVille. Please keep posting the crime stats. People need to be aware and they need to be outraged about the rise in crime. We need sheriffs foot patrols on the streets (especially on weekends in the nightlife
district), we need to support the police and we certainly don’t need to defund them if anything they need more funds for more staffing and training.
Don’t worry. WeHo is working on a kiosk that should put an end to all of this crime.

The LASD could EASILY implement this. So why aren’t they?
The city dictates how the Sheriff’s Department will deploy the patrol deputies, down to the numbers per shift, how many are on the bike team and on the specialized units. It’s all spelled out in the contract, easily found out if one wanted to discover this. It’s just easier to bash the Sheriffs instead of educating oneself.

Check with city hall then sweetie, I spoke with 2 previous captains (Lynda Castro and Kelley Fraser) and confirmed it with WeHo Public Safety. The city dictates the number of patrol positions and pays by contract minutes.
If you are keeping aware of what is going on, the new Public Safety Commissioners referred a 7-0 vote to the Council to consider replacing the Sheriff with our own PD which would be a nightmare. People don’t stop to realize the resources we have with LASD and they need to review the cities that dumped their PD’s in favor of LASD because of the corruption.
