Star Wars boss Kathleen Kennedy has suggested that, amongst all of the exciting Star Wars universe projects that are emerging, we may still get another glimpse at the characters introduced in the sequel movie trilogy.

Following 2019's The Rise of Skywalker, the likes of Rey, Finn and Poe haven't been confirmed to be featuring in any major new movies or TV shows (although they have made appearances in projects such as The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special).

But Lucasfilm president Kennedy has teased that there are still plenty of opportunities for fans to see the sequel trilogy crew again, as she has told Empire that "conversations" are being had about their futures.

"Certainly, those are not characters we're going to forget," she said. "They will live on, and those are conversations that are going on with the creative team as well."

In the meantime, fans have plenty more new Star Wars content to look forward to, including the imminent Book of Boba Fett, the Ahsoka series and Rogue One prequel series, Andor.

One of the most highly anticipated projects is the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which will see Ewan McGregor reprise his role as fan favourite Jedi Obi-Wan, while Hayden Christensen also returns as Obi-Wan's former apprentice Anakin Skywalker – now turned to the dark side as Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Kennedy also revealed during her interview just how delighted the two actors were to be wielding their lightsabers once again after over 15 years away from the franchise.

"The thing that was most exciting was being on the set and watching the two of them get excited," she said. "They hadn't seen one another in a long time.

"I was surprised at just how incredibly emotional it was for each of them to find themselves back in these roles, and just realising how important Star Wars was to each of them. It was the beginning of their careers."

Although Obi-Wan Kenobi doesn't yet have a confirmed premiere date, we know that filming has wrapped and that we can expect to see the series sometime in 2022.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+, while Rise of Skywalker is also on Sky Cinema Premiere and NOW.
