The Bachelor's Laura Byrne and Brittany Hockley reveal why the dating franchise is flopping in the ratings - as The Bachelorette sinks to its lowest audience ever
Ratings for this year's season of The Bachelorette have gone from bad to worse.
And former Bachelor stars Laura Byrne and Brittany Hockley revealed on Tuesday why they think the Channel 10 dating franchise is struggling to attract an audience.
Laura, who met her fiancé Matty Johnson on The Bachelor in 2017, told Yahoo Lifestyle viewers were suffering from 'reality TV fatigue'.

'Maybe we have, not just Bachelor fatigue but reality TV fatigue at the moment,' she said.
'There are so many more options when it comes to streaming and that's what's making free-to-air TV, in general, a bit more of a challenging industry.'

'I think it's unfortunate that it's not rating as well as what it normally would because I think the season itself is great,' Laura added.
Brittany agreed, saying she'd noticed a 'push away' from reality TV.
However, she believes people will return to the franchise eventually 'because everybody loves love'.
Brittany added: 'I'm just wondering if maybe they need to have a little something new, like a little refresh next year? So still run The Bachelor but maybe something has to change, maybe people just want something new in the same franchise.'
It comes after the Bachelorette sunk to its lowest ratings yet, attracting just 249,000 metro viewers earlier this month.
Sadly for Brooke Blurton, her season has seen ratings peak around the 300,000s across the five capital cities.
Channel 10 has yet to make any comment on the ratings, but the show is believed to be performing well on the network's streaming service.
The Bachelorette continues Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 10
