A two-vehicle accident sent two people to the hospital this morning in Alliance.

At approximately 10:19 a.m. the Alliance Animal Control/Code Enforcement Truck driven by Toni Ravert was southbound on Yellowstone Avenue.

A white Chevrolet Suburban was eastbound on 6th Street and crashed into Ravert.

"This is a preliminary assessment as the investigation is ongoing, but based on my experience it appears the white SUV was going at a high rate of speed, striking the Animal Control Truck in the passenger door causing it to roll on its top," Alliance Police Chief Philip Lukens said.

Ravert was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Box Butte General Hospital.

"The driver of the SUV was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol and was also transported to Box Butte Hospital," Lukens said.

Lukens said the Alliance Police Department requested the Nebraska State Patrol to take over the investigation.

"We are thankful to everyone who has reached out to her [Animal Control and Code Enforcement Officer Ravert] and all of us at the Alliance Police Department for good wishes," Alliance Police Department said. "Though she will be a bit sore, she is doing alright. The occupant of the other vehicle is also alright. Thankfully, no animals were in the vehicle at this time. The Animal Control Officer will be away from work recovering for the next few days, so please bare with us."
