The glittery, hard-partying teens of Euphoria are finally coming back. Today, HBO shared the first trailer for Season 2 of Sam Levinson‘s hit drama series, which premieres on January 9.

While last year’s Euphoria specials served as intimate character studies of Rue (Emmy winner Zendaya) and Jules (Hunter Schafer), the latest trailer teases a chaotic return to form.

Season 2 picks up after Rue and Jules’ breakup, as Rue struggles to balance the pressures of love, loss, and addiction.

“When you’re younger, everything feels so permanent,” Rue says via voiceover. “But as you get older, you begin to realize nothing is, and everyone you love can drift away.” Cue a truly wild montage of parties and police run-ins. Never change, Euphoria.

The majority of the Season 1 cast is set to return, including Angus Cloud, Jacob Elordi, Algee Smith, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Barbie Ferreira, Maude Apatow, Javon Walton, Storm Reid, Austin Abrams, and Nika King. Newcomers include Dominic Fike, Minka Kelly, and Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr.

The series is created and written by Levinson, who also serves as an executive producers. Other Euphoria executive producers include Ravi Nandan, Kevin Turen, Will Greenfield, Drake, Adele “Future” Nur, Zendaya, Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, Ron Leshem, and Daphna Levin. Kenneth Yu serves as producer, while Ashley Levinson, Harrison Kreiss, and Julio Perez are co-producers. It’s produced in partnership with A24, and based on the Israeli series of the same name.

Euphoria Season 2 premieres Sunday, January 9, on HBO Max. Scroll up to watch the teaser trailer.
