Starz’s Outlander will return with its sixth season on Sunday, March 6, 9 p.m., according to DeadlineDiana Gabaldon (Voyager), the author of the series of books that the series is based on, released news of the release date at Monday’s launch of the ninth book in the series, entitled Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.

The historical fiction drama follows Claire, played by Caitríona Balfe (Belfast), who was enjoying a second honeymoon in Scotland with her new husband after serving as a British Army nurse in World War II, when she is transported back to 1743, where her liberation and life are threatened.

The show’s sixth season will be based on the book A Breath of Snow and Ashes, and will pick up directly after the events of the fifth season’s conclusion. Still, Claire and Jamie have built new lives together at Fraser’s Ridge and must defend it in battle.

Outlander was renewed for seventh season during production of the sixth season, which was halted for a short period due to COVID-19. It will be based on the seventh book of Gabaldon’s series, An Echo in the Bone.
