Sandra Bullock On Potential Relationship With Keanu Reeves

Sandro Bullock has revealed that a possible relationship with 1990s heartthrob Keanu Reeves could have survived.

During a recent interview with Esquire magazine The Unforgivable star said: ‘Keanu’s a guy who, I feel like, is friends with every woman he’s ever dated.

'I don’t think there’s anyone who has something horrible to say about him. So maybe we could have survived.’

Over the years Bullock has insisted that her and Reeves have been better off as friends, as she believes a romantic relationship would have ruined their friendship.

And to some extent, she still feels the same way.

The Oscar-winning actress made a point of saying that her and the John Wick star's current platonic friendship has meant that 'we didn’t have to survive anything'.

'We just get to grow up together on parallel roads and tip our hats and meet for a dinner and try to work together,' she continued. 'And the longer time goes on, the more in awe I am of the human being. Would I have been able to say that if he had dumped me and made me angry? Probably not.'

Bullock and Reeves met on the set of 1994 action movie Speed, in which Reeves played a young police officer Jack Traven who saves Bullock – bus passenger Annie Porter – from a bomb explosion.

Following the release of Speed the pair hung out and, according to Reeves, they once had a conversation about champagne and truffles, which resulted in what could quite possibly be the sweetest act in the Nineties we've ever heard.

In the interview Bullock recalled a conversation with Reeves in which she said she'd never had champagne and truffles.

Soon after the discussion Reeves rocked up to Bullock’s house on a motorcycle and gifted her a bunch of flowers, champagne and truffles.

‘"I just thought you might want to try Champagne and truffles, to see what it’s like",’ Bullock recalled Reeves saying at the time. It turned out that the actor actually had a date to go to after his home visit to Bullock that day.

The Miss Congeniality actor also shed light on the fact that just before Reeves arrived at her home, which was the first she bought with a friend, she had been painting her nails. So after Reeves gifted her the treats the pair poured her champagne, opened the truffles and had his nails painted black by the Oscar winner.

Though the pair seem pretty comfortable with one another now, this wasn’t always the case, according to Bullock.

‘When I first met him, I would spend as much time as I could filling a silence, just to feel comfortable. And the more I jibber-jabbered on, the quieter he would get. And I thought, "I don’t understand what’s happening! He’s looking at me with eyes of confusion. He’s quiet. Did I say something to offend him?”

'And then a day or two later, he would arrive with a note or a little package, saying, “I thought about what you said.” And he would have his response,’ Bullock said.

When it comes to the pair reigniting their on-screen chemistry, while Reeves doesn't have any dream project on his mind, Bullock teases a possible comedy with the actor.

'I would love nothing more than to do a comedy with Keanu before we die. Just laugh with him. He’s funny. We can be seventy-five—it’ll be even better then, like an old-people Cocoon thing. We play two funny old people. A road trip. Just put us in an RV as old people. It’ll be the bookend of Speed! We’ll just be driving really slowly. Pissing the world off. There’s our movie,' she said, enthusiastically.

Reeves’, who has made a staggering 60 movies during his career is currently in a relationship with artist Alexandra Grant. The couple made their red carpet debut at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in 2019.

As for Bullock, she’s loved up with her photographer boyfriend Bryan Randall, who she met in 2015.
