Amid rumors that USC and LSU are interested in him, Penn State head coach James Franklin has been in demand for the past month or so. Franklin has been denying that he’s leaving the Nittany Lions and will remain at Penn State but the rumors kept circulating.

In an ESPN+ article by Adam Rittenberg, he revealed that Franklin “should remain in State College with an enhanced contract, according to sources.” One reason for Franklin staying was that the idea of overhauling the USC and LSU roster “isn’t overly appealing” for him.

Over the weekend, Franklin was asked about comments he made toward boosters where he told them, “I’m not going anywhere.” Franklin responded that he understood why the media needed to ask the question but wanted to talk about Rutgers and that on Tuesday, “We can talk about that as much as you guys want to talk about that.” This, along with ESPN’s report, seems to indicate the extension being done and announced sometime Tuesday.

This would be the third time Franklin has received a contract extension as a response to rumors he was leaving for another school. While Franklin might understandably grow tired of answering these questions all the time, him being in demand has become a financially lucrative venture. Gotta take the good with the bad in this case.
