A Weidman man was arrested Sunday after attacking his father with a butcher knife during an argument over his girlfriend.
Deputies were called to a home on Tillman Lane in Weidman at approximately 11 a.m. after a 21-year-old son threatened his 55-year-old father during an argument over the son’s girlfriend staying at the house.
The residents — the 55-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman — told deputies that during the argument, the son got a large butcher knife and attempted to attack his father.
While investigating the incident, deputies found the house in disarray and the kitchen table turned over.
They were also told that it happened previously during the preceding several weeks.
Deputies arrested the son, who remains lodged in the Isabella County Jail.
