That makes five straight wins for the Atlanta Hawks following their 113-101 victory over the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder. After starting the season 4-3 before going on a six-game slide, it appears all the Hawks needed was a little home cooking to get themselves right.

All of this has come on the heels of De’Andre Hunter’s third surgery in less than a year.

Surely, the Thunder aren’t the most formidable of opponents. But that adds to it as the Hawks could have got caught peeking ahead to future matchups. OKC had won four straight games before losing four of their last five.

Thankfully, no such slight took place as the Hawks control over this game, like most from good teams, started at the top.

Trae Young had 30 points and continued to shoot well from deep while John Collins had five blocks and Clint Capela had another double-double. Every Hawks starter (and Danilo Gallinari) scored in double figures as Atlanta’s first five outscored OKC’s 77-57. The bench was outscored 44-36, however.

The Atlanta Hawks went 5-0 over their homestand but need to correct things on the road

That might just be picking nits.

This all continues a trend over a homestand that saw the Hawks lead the league in points per game over the last five games and the starter rank fourth in scoring over that span.

Over this last handful of contests, the Hawks rank first in overall and three-point efficiency, sixth in assists, and third with just 11.6 turnovers per game. Defending their turf has translated into an 8-1 home record, second behind only the Golden State Warriors this season.
