Hannah Brown recounts her messy 2019 entanglement with ex Tyler Cameron and Gigi Hadid in her new memoir, “God Bless This Mess,” out today.
“What’s crazy is, I loved Gigi Hadid! I thought she was the coolest. I still do,” the Season 15 “Bachelorette” writes. “I get it. I would even go on a date with her. I wanna be her friend! But never did I expect to be in a love triangle with her.”
Brown, 27, explains that she was blindsided by Cameron’s decision to pursue the supermodel — especially after spending a romantic evening together at the former ABC star’s apartment in West Hollywood.
“I woke up the next morning to find paparazzi photos of Tyler tagged all over Instagram. Tyler, in New York City — on a date with supermodel Gigi Hadid,” she writes. “Tyler met up with a supermodel after getting off the phone with me.”
As Bachelor Nation will recall, Brown and Cameron, 28, made a pact to give their relationship a second shot after her split from final rose recipient Jed Wyatt played out on the dramatic “After the Final Rose” special. Brown called off her engagement with the musician, 27, after she discovered he had a serious girlfriend back home in Nashville before coming on the show.
With her “Bachelorette” journey behind her, Brown says that she was looking forward to dating one man — but Cameron had a different idea.
“This wasn’t a TV show. This wasn’t some game,” she continues. “My time with Tyler at my apartment wasn’t some meaningless hookup, the way it was portrayed in the press. My heart was on the line. And he broke it. With a supermodel. Can you imagine?”
Brown goes on to say that she was “so embarrassed” and “hurt” as the painful moment was made public. “It all caught me so off guard,” she says.
Making matters worse, Brown was unable to get in touch with Cameron before a scheduled press tour — while still reeling from his date with Hadid.
“Everyone wanted to know what was going on,” she writes. “‘I don’t know what’s going on!’ is the only thing I could say.”
When Cameron “finally called” Brown back, she said his side of the story sounded something like this: “You got to date 30 guys, so I’m gonna date around and see if I still want to be with you.”
Brown remembers telling Cameron, “You just told me you weren’t seeing anybody else. And then you said you wanted to talk about it, but we never talked about it, and like an hour later you went out with her!”
She also reveals that she told Cameron she regretted “[hyping him] up as this respectful king” because she felt as though his actions with Hadid proved otherwise.
“This feels like you’re disrespecting me more than anybody has in my entire life! I’m going to be asked about you and Gigi now, constantly. Do you not understand that? I’m the one who has to answer for what you’re doing,” she told him, later telling her readers, “I was so mad.”
Brown, who is currently dating model Adam Woolard, later reconciled with Cameron. Cameron maintained a serious relationship with influencer Camila Kendra, but broke up with her this summer after eight months of dating.
Meanwhile, Hadid, 27, welcomed a baby girl named Khai with longtime love Zayn Malik in September 2020. The pair reportedly split earlier this month following reports of discord between Malik, 28, and Hadid’s mother, Yolanda Hadid.
