After a suffering a spirited, yet bloody defeat on Sunday, the Detroit Pistons will try and pick up a win to avoid extending another losing skid on Tuesday, even though they are taking one of the best teams in the East in the early goings in the Miami Heat.
Even though LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers were in town this past Sunday, that did not strike feat in the Pistons’ lineup. Cade Cunningham led the Pistons to a seven-point lead at halftime, and were seemingly up big on the Lakers in the third quarter. However, an elbow from LeBron James that caused him to get tossed from the game, did the reverse effect of what many believed what was going to happen.
James’ teammates picked up the slack, outscoring Detroit 37-17 in the fourth, sending L.A. to a 121-116 victory.
Despite the loss, a couple of Pistons had standout performances. Jerami Grant put up a season-high 36 points, leading all players on Sunday night. Cunningham registered his first career triple-double, scoring 13 points, while picking up 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
The Miami Heat come to town with the fourth-best record in the Eastern Conference. Despite losing to the vastly-improved Washington Wizards on Saturday, the Heat are 11-6 so far, with that loss snapping their second four-game win streak of the season.
