After deciding not to renew his contract with Fnatic (FNC), Gabriel “Bwipo” Rau is making his move from EU to NA as he formally signs with Team Liquid (TL). Shifting from one Western powerhouse to another, the former FNC top laner-turned-jungler is also swapping back to his preferred top lane position. TL made the announcement regarding the new addition to the roster on Monday.

Bwipo had built quite the career for himself on Fnatic, having replaced the iconic sOAZ as a budding prospect back in 2018. He had big shoes to fill on one of the most popular League of Legends teams, and he definitely didn't disappoint. Bwipo helped lead FNC to two LEC Championship titles and made four Worlds appearances, playing alongside the likes of Martin “Rekkles” Larsson.

Eventually, Bwipo had risen to become the veteran presence on the team, especially with long-time FNC legend Rekkles' departure after the 2020 season. He had also role swapped to fill the jungler position in 2021. While Fnatic had a commendable 2021 campaign, reaching the World Championships, the team hit a rough patch on the international stage, failing to advance from the group stage.

Now Bwipo has made the move to another squad that had also made it to Worlds: Team Liquid. He replaces Alphari, another promising prospect out of the NA scene, who is rumored to go the other way to join Team Vitality in EU. TL has become one of the most dominant forces in the region, but similarly crashed out of Worlds groups. Bwipo and his new team will now be looking to stay on top of the LCS and potentially put up a much better showing internationally in 2022.
