Greensboro: Lawndale Baptist Church holds 'Feeding the 5,000' turkey giveaway
Lawndale Baptist Church in Greensboro distributed frozen turkeys and $25 gift cards to the first 1,000 people who arrived at the "Feeding the 5,000" giveaway event on Tuesday morning. Each giveaway bag is enough to feed five people this Thanksgiving. Volunteers, church members, and church leaders worked to distribute the bags with all the fixings. It was a team effort to make sure many Triad families have a happy Thanksgiving and a turkey on their table. The annual tradition started back in 2009 and has been going on ever since, with some adjustments due to COVID-19. WXII 12's Rachel Ellis spoke with church administrator Steve Crews about the holiday event and what it means to the community.
