NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD released surveillance video Tuesday after a man was attacked and robbed by another man with a metal pipe earlier this month, authorities said.

According to police, a 65-year-old man was walking to work at about 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 11, when he was approached in front of 106-11 142 Street in Jamaica by a suspect who was holding what appeared to be a metal pipe.

The suspect menaced the victim with the pipe and demanded the victim’s wallet, police said.

When the victim refused to comply, the suspect struck him in the head with the pipe, causing him to fall to the ground, officials said.

While the victim was on the ground the suspect then took the victim's cell phone and fled the location to parts unknown, the NYPD said.

The victim suffered a head injury and was removed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Police described the suspect as a man with a light complexion, approximately 5'8" tall, weighing 150 pounds, with a medium build, last seen wearing a black winter hat, a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and black sneakers.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
