At the beginning of November, the Montreal Canadiens sent rookie forward Cole Caufield down to the Laval Rocket in the AHL. Through ten games at that point, Caufield had only one assist, while averaging 14:11 time on ice.

The Mosinee, Wisconsin native made the most out of his AHL stint, recording five points (two goals, three assists) in five games. Montreal called Caufield up on Thursday ahead of their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. In two games since returning to the big club, Caufield's ice-time has remained roughly the same, averaging 14:37 TOI between Thursday's game against Pittsburgh and Saturday's tilt with Nashville.

Following practice on Monday, Caufield met with reporters and discussed his stint in Laval, saying that it was "really good for him".

"It was all about just going down there, kinda refreshing my mind, get my game back, and getting my confidence back," Caufield said. "I feel as though it was really good for me to go down there and find myself as a player and relax and get out of the noise a little bit."

The 20-year-old added, "It felt like the first time again. I had a lot of energy those first couple games, and I'm just going to look forward to keeping that going. For me, personally, I like where my game's at right now. I'm just gonna keep trying to get better."

Caufield and the Canadiens will be back in action on Wednesday night when they open up a three-game road trip in Washington against the Capitals.
