BELOIT - The Beloit Police Department recently helped thwart a scam attempt involving $13,000 in currency.

On Friday evening, officers received a report of a scam that involved someone who claimed to work for Amazon. The incident led to an individual withdrawing $13,000 in United States currency, packaging it up, and attempting to ship the money to an address in Dallas, according to a post on the Beloit KS Police Department Facebook page.

The officers, with the help of the United States Postal Service, intercepted the package in Beloit and stopped it from being delivered to scammers in Dallas.

Beloit police reminded residents to be vigilant and to be aware that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
