Clint Frazier was in good spirits just shortly before the Yankees designated him for assignment last Friday.
The outfielder, who’s battled health issues throughout the year, shared a sweet tribute to his fiancée, Kaylee Gambadoro, for her birthday.
“Forever is what I think about when I think of you — you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me and it will always stay that way. Have a great birthday, scoop,” Frazier wrote last week in an Instagram post that featured a photo of the couple hugging.
Gambadoro, a health and wellness expert, shared the same photo with the caption: “I had no idea what love was until I met this man. Thanks for making me feel special everyday but especially yesterday. I love getting older with you.”
The Yankees designated Frazier for assignment on Friday, along with Tyler Wade and Rougned Odor, to clear spots on their 40-man roster.
Frazier did not play after June 30, due to undisclosed medical issues that led to dizziness.
Before his health issues, the 27-year-old lost his starting spot in left field due to poor performance. He was batted just .186 with an OPS-plus of 76 through 66 games.
Last month, Frazier opened up about his health issues on Twitter.
“I’d love to have the opportunity to talk about this situation publicly and probably plan to do so soon — my issues have been very personal to me and something i’ve wanted to handle privately but there’s been a lot of inaccurate things reported about my injury that i’ll clear up,” he tweeted on Oct. 28.
A few days later, Frazier shared on Instagram that his fiancée had helped him adopt an anti-inflammatory-based diet.
“While searching for answers with my own health, we decided that my current diet needed major adjusting… while your diet is not an end all be all, I saw major changes in how I looked, and how I felt,” he wrote in part in a post announcing Gambadoro’s new health business.
Frazier proposed to Gambadoro in July, just a few months after the couple celebrated their one-year anniversary in May. He announced the engagement, which took place at New York City’s famed The Fleur Room, on Instagram.
