Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has been suspended one game for his altercation with Detroit Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart during Sunday's game in Motor City. While it's a big blow to a Purple and Gold team trying to contend for a playoff spot, the suspension does help them save some luxury tax bills.
As Bobby Marks of ESPN noted, missing one game will cost James $284,004. With that, the Lakers will receive a $142,002 credit, which is projected to save them $532,508 in luxury tax.
The suspension will cost LeBron James $284,004 and Isaiah Stewart $45,201 ($22,601 per game).

The Lakers are set to pay about $45 million in luxury tax, so saving over $500,000 is certainly a big deal.
Of course it comes with a huge cost since the team will be without their best player. Not to mention that they are set to face a tough New York Knicks team focused on climbing in the East amid their recent struggles.

Frank Vogel and Co. won their game against Detroit despite LeBron's ejection in the third quarter following the fight, but they are still far from establishing themselves as title contenders. At 9-9 on the season, they are eighth in the Western Conference standings.
Not to mention that the Lakers have yet to really make a statement win, with Russell Westbrook taking time to adjust to LA's playing style since he was acquired by the franchise during the offseason.
Fortunately for LA, LeBron's suspension is just for one game, and so he should be ready to suit up when they play the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday.
