FREEHOLD — Several people were injured Friday night in a two-car accident in Freehold, fire officials said.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, said Steven Nevel, public information officer for state police Troop F.

One vehicle crashed into the former Freehold Inn at 3645 County Route 67, causing damage to the building, Nevel said.

At about 6:24 p.m., a 2011 BMW 328i was traveling east on County Route 67. When the driver came to the intersection with Route 32, they failed to stop at the stop sign and struck a 2016 Nissan Rogue that was traveling south on Route 32.

Police did not identify either driver or their passengers.

There were no signs of impairment in either driver, Nevel said.

The Nissan came to rest in the middle of county Route 67. The BMW continued on and slammed into the former Freehold Inn, ending up on the building’s front porch.

The extent of damage to the building was not available.

Greene County 911 sent Freehold and Greenville fire companies and Greenville Ambulance to the scene after receiving reports of the crash.

Cairo Ambulance was later requested under mutual aid.

Crews worked to remove all passengers from their vehicles.

A Life Net helicopter was placed on stand-by, but was not needed.

The town code enforcement officer was requested to the scene.

Route 32 was down to one lane of alternating traffic until the crash was cleared.

County Route 67 eastbound was closed.

Both cars were towed from the scene.

State police investigated.
