Youngstown Roots/Folk Musician Demos Papadimos Debuts New Album

Sat 11/27 @ 9PM

Youngstown singer/songwriter/musician Demos Papadimos is known for giving his own twist to Americana-style music, imbuing it with a flavor of the Mediterranean and his own Greek heritage, playing bouzouki along with guitar and harmonica. Along with influences from lengedary folk artists such as Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, he adds the sounds of the Greek street music known as rebetiko.

Papadimos will be celebrating the release of a new album titled This Way Up with a show at Youngstown’s West Side Bowl, where he’ll be joined on the bill by Cleveland singer/songwriter and utility guitarist Ray Flanagan and his band the Mean Machines.

Keeping things close to home, he recorded the album at Ampreon Recorder in Youngstown with Pete Drivere, and his longtime collaborators drummer Ralph Rich and bassist Andre Ptichkin, rocking out a little more than usual. His current live lineup includes Rich, bassist Corey Gray, guitarist Dave Lynn and violinist Caitlin Hedge.

“The lineup has developed into a true collaborative unit,” says Papadimas. “There is a shared understanding among the entire band about the direction of the material.”
