November 25 is a couple of days away and there's nothing more satisfying than staying home on a holiday, eating some good food with the people you love and then playing some video games.
Thanksgiving weekend is coming up and some of us will be seeing our families for the first time in a while. However, it won't take long for you to fall into the same arguments and discussions that troubled the 2019 feast and you may end up clamouring for an escape that may very well come in the form of a bite-sized indie game.
The following games aren't necessarily short but they will offer a much-needed respite.
Loop Hero
First up on the list of our suggestions, we have Loop Hero. The entire world of the game has been carelessly dropped into a time loop and the player must now defeat everything that stands between them and Thursday.
Loop Hero offers its players a chance to enter a bubble where time flows in a circle but there is a silver lining. The game is played with the help of a mystical deck of cards that will allow the Heroes to place everything from terrain to buildings, all the way to enemies. Defeating said enemies will yield better loot for your camp and give you some hope that there may be a way out.
Time to beat Loop Hero: about 35 hours.

Black Book
Another game with car-based combat, Black Book is one of this year's indie darlings. Black Book follows a young witch named Vasilisa on the quest to bring back her beloved. The game is rich with elements of Slavic myth and folklore.
The players take on the role of Vasilisa a young witch who sets out to break the seven seals of a magical book. Her journey is beset by all kinds of familiar and new threats as players are given the opportunity to learn about Slavic culture. Beating the creatures will yield new magic cards you can use to cast spells on your next opponent.

The Ascent
Neon Giant's delicious RPG shooter set in a cyberpunk world has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing hour or two in front of a PC screen. The Ascent's isometric camera may turn some people off but we're here to urge you to give it a chance.
For an indie title worked on by a dozen people, The Ascent delivers on all fronts: the gunplay is satisfying, there are a bunch of upgrades to be found and used, special abilities offer a couple of novel ideas and all this is underlined by a not too shabby story.
The Ascent is now available on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. It will take you approximately 18 hours to beat.
Echo Generation
A hit of nostalgia for the 90's kids. Echo Generation offers up turn-based combat and collecting comic books to learn some awesome new moves. Echo Generation also has some beefy puzzles you'll have to really think about. If you're stuck playing games that don't let go of your hand for a second, this indie action-adventure title will remind you of a different time. Cococucumber's title doesn't overstay its welcome and can be completed in around 10 hours.
