Pet safety: Thanksgiving foods you CAN feed your dog

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —
With Thanksgiving upon us, it's inevitable to expect begging eyes and drooling mouths from our dogs. But not all Turkey Day treats are safe for pups, and some can even be toxic.

For example, stuffing often contains ingredients like onions, scallions, and garlic, all of which are toxic to dogs and cats. They can cause a life-threatening condition called anemia.
To keep your pets safe, here's a list of Thanksgiving foods your dogs can and can't have:
CAN HAVE
- Apples (no core/seeds)
- Carrots
- Celery
- Cheese
- Corn (no cob)
- Green beans
- Pumpkin
- Quinoa
- Rice
- Sweet potatoes
- Turkey (no skin, fat, or bones)
CAN'T HAVE
- Canned cranberry
- Chocolate
- Garlic
- Grapes
- Ham
- Leeks
- Mashed potatoes
- Onions
- Raisins
- Raw dough
- Raw potatoes
- Pie filling
- Pre-made desserts*
- Stuffing
*IMPORTANT NOTE: Xylitol comes in some sugar-free baked goods, and it can be deadly to pets.
