A mysterious new character has just been revealed by miHoYo – Shenhe, a disciple of Cloud Retainer.
Shenhe is a Cryo Polearm user that is set to arrive in Genshin Impact in a yet-specified future patch. She was revealed by miHoYo alongside another character ahead of Genshin Impact version 2.4 beta going live. This was probably done by miHoYo to avoid them being revealed through Genshin Impact leaks.
Not much is known about Shenhe yet, apart from the fact that she is from a clan of exorcists, and that Cloud Retainer has taken a particular liking of her. Cloud Retainer likes her so much that the notoriously distant adeptus has been quoted saying that Shenhe bears the closest resemblance of her among all of her pupils and disciples.
It is perhaps her time with the adeptus that has taken away her social skills, as Shenhe doesn't appear to be on good terms with a lot of Liyue's personalities. According to Ganyu, she is easily angered, and can end up destroying everything around her in one of her temper tantrums. Xingqiu avoids looking at her because of her “fierce” gaze, a stabbing look that makes you think that you may have offended her somehow. Hu Tao has a more reserved judgment of Shenhe, saying that she is a unique individual that is “pure” and “pristine.”
Perhaps we'll learn more about Shenhe in the following weeks, but right now not a lot of information is available about this new character. Her reveal might indicate, however, that Sumeru is still far away, and that players might spend more time in Liyue in the patches coming in the near future.
