Ozzy Osbourne’s new album is on the way, and Zakk Wylde says he’s “beyond honored” to perform rhythm guitar on the songs that feature greats such as Tony Iommi, Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck

Guitar icon Zakk Wylde is getting ready to release a new album with his band Black Label Society, “Doom Crew Inc.,” which will mark the band’s 11 studio release. In addition to working on the new BLS release, which drops on Nov. 26, Wylde is also busy laying down guitar lines for the upcoming Ozzy Osbourne record.

In a new interview with Heavy Consequence, Wylde opened up about appearing on Osbourne’s upcoming solo album. While Wylde wasn’t a part of Osbourne’s last album, “Ordinary Man,” this time around, he’ll perform on the entire record.

Osbourne’s upcoming set also features collaborations from a bevy of big-named guitarists. On those songs, Wylde is playing rhythm guitar. Appearing with those famed players, Wylde says, is an honor.

“It’s pretty mind-blowing,” Wylde said in the interview. “If you would’ve told me when I was 14 years old, in my bedroom practicing, that I was going to be on an album with Ozzy, Tony Iommi, Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck — all my heroes — I would’ve told you, ‘Forget about it!’ … The tracks that they’re playing solos on, I’m playing rhythm guitar, so I’m beyond honored.”

On top of laying down guitar lines for Osbourne’s upcoming record, Wylde tours in the metal great’s solo band. He hopes to get back on the road with Osbourne for his farewell tour, which started in 2018 but was put delayed due to Osbourne’s Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis and the pandemic. At the moment, the trek is slated to kick back off in January with a European leg, support coming from fellow metal band Judas Priest.
