Boston Celtics: 3 Houston Rockets veterans Cs should inquire about

Tonight’s opponent for the Boston Celtics is one that is on pace for historic levels of losing in 2021-22.

The Houston Rockets, currently sporting a record of 1-15, have lost 14 straight and have lost 10 of those contests by double digits.

While there is certainly high-upside youth, particularly in #2 pick Jalen Green, the growing pains are evident. Even Green is mired in a shooting slump after knocking down eight of his 10 3-point attempts against the Boston Celtics in his third ever NBA game during the teams’ first matchup on October 24th, a 107-97 victory for the Cs.

Houston is clearly a team in the beginning stages of what should be a large-scale rebuild following the James Harden era and doesn’t figure to hold onto their veterans as the Rockets continue to struggle.

Rockets veteran #1 Boston Celtics should pursue: Eric Gordon

Eric Gordon’s $18+ million deal is not one that could fit into the TPE created from the Evan Fournier sign-and-trade that landed the Frenchman on the New York Knicks this past offseason. Still, he is someone the Cs should look into acquiring the 32-year-old Indiana product.

Gordon is averaging 43% from the 3-point line in five attempts per game in 2021-22, though his per-game point totals are his lowest so far during his time in Houston. At this point, a change of scenery makes a ton of sense considering the two and a half years left on his current deal not matching up with the timeline of the Rockets being competitive again.

The money works for a Gordon swap that sends Josh Richardson and Juan Hernangomez to H-Town.
