Olivia Nielson from Kemmerer High School is taking her talents to college after recently signing with Utah State University Eastern.

Nielson is a two-sport star for the Rangers. She is a three-year letter winner in basketball and was an all-conference selection after the 2020-21 season.

As a junior last season, Nielson averaged 12 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. She also chipped in 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Nielson scored a career-best 28 points against Mountain View on Jan. 23, 2021. She was the team’s leading scorer five times last season and was the top rebounder 15 times for the Rangers. Kemmerer was 4-14 last season.

During the 2019-20 season, Nielson played in only 11 games and averaged 7.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

As a freshman in the 2018-19 season, she averaged 8.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Her career-high in rebounds of 19 came against Tongue River on Feb. 22, 2019.

Nielson was also a three-year starter and letter winner for the Rangers in volleyball. She was an all-state player in 2021 and all-conference three times during her volleyball career.

The Utah State University Eastern Eagles are in Price, UT. They compete at the NJCAA level.
