Chelsea will look to avenge September's 1-0 defeat in Turin when they host Juventus on Tuesday night as the Champions League group stage continues.

The Blues can go level on points with the Bianconeri at the summit of Group H with a win, and will snatch top spot if they are victorious by a margin of two goals or more. Anything less and they would stay second as their visitors have the head-to-head and goal difference advantage as things stand.

Juventus will seal top spot in the group with a win of their own.

A two-goal victory may have to be the task at hand for Thomas Tuchel's side, as Juve host whipping boys Malmö on the final matchday in December, while Chelsea face a wintery trip to Russia to face Zenit.

Chelsea team news

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has revealed Kai Havertz is a doubt with a hamstring issue that forced him off against Leicester and he missed training on Monday. Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku was involved having come through a medical examination following his layoff with an ankle injury, although it remains to be seen whether he is fit enough to start.

Although Timo Werner is ready to return to action, midfielder Mateo Kovacic remains sidelined with his own hamstring problem.

Paulo Dybala was doubtful for this one with a calf injury, but he is likely to play some part having been photographed in good spirits in training.

Juventus boss Max Allegri does have issues elsewhere though - especially at the back. Defenders Danilo, Giorgio Chiellini and Mattia De Sciglio are all out, as is attacker Federico Bernardeschi. Former Arsenal man Aaron Ramsey has been left out of the travelling squad having been a doubt.

Chelsea vs Juventus head-to-head record

Despite how often these two European giants have qualified for the Champions League, they have only met five times so far.

While Juventus triumphed in the reverse fixture back in September thanks to Federico Chiesa's fine finish, the head-to-head record is finely balanced; Chelsea edged a last 16 tie 3-2 on aggregate in 2009, while Oscar scored a wonder goal for the then (and now) holders in a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge in 2012. However, Juve thrashed Chelsea 3-0 in Turin that season as the champions exited in the group stage.

Chelsea vs Juventus score prediction

Chelsea likely need a victory by two goals or more to stand a chance of winning the group given what's to come.

However, against a Juventus side who have looked unstoppable in Europe so far, that looks like an uphill battle.

There'll be goals at both ends and Chelsea will technically get their revenge, but it's a scoreline that may not be enough to claim top spot in the long run.

Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Juventus
