While the Blackhawks were able to get out of Vancouver with a 1-0 win over the Canucks, it didn’t come without a price. After taking an awkward hit and fall during the game, Riley Stillman suffered a knee injury and did not return to action last night. Today, the Blackhawks placed Stillman on Injured Reserve and have recalled defenseman Wyatt Kalynuk in his place.

Nothing malicious, but an unfortunate incident for Stillman. He has skated in 12 games for Chicago this season, averaging 14:11 minutes per game, and has tallied two assists. There is no set timetable for his return.
Kalynuk is coming to the Blackhawks after missing the beginning of the season with a lower-body injury. After making his NHL debut last season, the former Wisconsin Badgers Captain made an immediate impression and finished the season with Chicago as one of the most utilized defensemen. Since returning to health this season, he has skated in four games with the Rockford IceHogs, tallying a goal and two assists in his four appearances.

The Blackhawks finish their four-game West Coast road trip tomorrow night in Calgary, taking on the Flames, the top team in the Western Conference. Kalynuk is expected to join the team in Calgary. Puck drop is set for 8:00 p.m. CT.
