One killed, two critically injured when van hits tree, catches fire on State Road 85

LAUREL HILL — One person was killed and two people were critically injured Sunday afternoon when their vehicle crashed into a tree and caught fire along State Road 85.

The crash occurred at 5:47 p.m. just north of Senterfitt Road south of Laurel Hill, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Three people were traveling south in a van when the vehicle left the road and traveled onto the grass shoulder on the west side of SR 85.

The vehicle struck a tree and stopped facing northeast, the FHP reported. After the collision, the van reportedly caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames.

A 37-year-old man and 37-year-old woman from Crestview were critically injured. Another man in the vehicle was killed. The FHP did not immediately release his identify.
