Umbrella Academy star Ritu Arya has recalled her favourite fan response to the hit Netflix show.

While promoting the new Netflix movie Red Notice, in which she stars opposite Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, the Lila Pitts actor admitted that she can't get enough of all the memes enthusiastic viewers post online – particularly the ones that poke fun at David Castañeda's Diego Hargreeves.

"I love the memes about Diego," she told Digital Spy recently. "Someone loves making memes about his character being bald or sticking his head on random men. It tickles me so much."

When asked whether she ever keeps up to date with fan theories and the like, Arya praised the "positive community" of Umbrella Academy viewers and revealed that she can't help but have a little look online to see what everyone is talking about every now and then.

"Sometimes I do," she replied. "The Umbrella fans are amazing. It really seems like a positive community online about Umbrella.

"I can't help it, but I know that it's not a healthy thing to do to indulge too much in people theorising and talking about the show, reviewing things that you're in because then you hit a bad comment and there's your evening gone."

When it comes to teasing what's to come from her character in season three, however, Arya made sure to keep tight-lipped – mostly because she's worried about being told off for giving away super-secret spoilers.

"My lips are sealed," she shared. "Don't want to get in trouble, terrified of getting in trouble always, to be honest. So sorry, my friend."

Based on Gabriel Bá and Gerard Way's comic book series of the same name, The Umbrella Academy's first season introduced the Hargreeves, a bunch of estranged, superpowered siblings who are forced to make peace with their shared history when they come together to solve the mystery of their father's death and attempt to thwart an impending apocalypse inadvertently brought about by their sister Vanya (Elliot Page).

Only, they didn't quite succeed when it comes to that last part and because of that, the finale saw Five (Aidan Gallagher), who has the ability to time jump, suggest he and his brothers and sisters travel back and stop the world-ending as a team.

When that went awry, the family members found themselves scattered across the early 1960s in its second season, before finally making it back home by the season 2 finale only to find that The Sparrow Academy has now been set up in the Umbrella Academy's place.

The Umbrella Academy seasons 1-2 are now streaming on Netflix. Season 3 is currently filming for a 2022 release date.
