The first three idols that will join the game’s roster as DLC will be Cinderella Girls‘ Kaede Takagaki, Kotoha Tanaka from Million Live, and Mamimi Tanaka from Shiny Colors‘ L’Antica group. Bandai Namco explained that these DLC idols will support Project Luminous by making appearances in Lessons and Stages. Each character will also come with a new song and story starring themselves.

Bandai Namco will also sell expansion stories taking place after the in-game story. The first story chapter, “Smile Festa,” will be available on November 25, 2021. It will feature the 765 Production All-Stars performing in the eponymous festival, with Aya and Kohaku Okuzora joining them. More chapters will follow in the near future, telling about the new “M@STERS OF IDOLWORLD!!” major event.

The Idolmaster: Starlit Season will also have a new Luminous Japan 47 mode that players can access after clearing the main game and downloading a free update patch. In this mode, the player will guide Project Luminous in gaining popularity across all 47 prefectures in Japan. The new game will begin in the eight northeastern prefectures, from Hokkaido to Ibaraki. Bandai Namco will gradually add more regions with subsequent updates.
